Nearly missed the plane from London to Venice trying to get through security at Heathrow Airport (you know when they say “kindle”, they really mean “e-readers”…). Luckily, my friends went on ahead and explained the situation to the airline and they delayed leaving for a bit and I barely made it (Run, Forrest Zeru, run!). Thank goodness.

After the near mishap, we finally arrived in Venice, Italy! Yay! It’s so different from where I live – the language, the people, even the very air (or maybe I’m just waxing poetic… LOL.) However, the mishaps didn’t really end there. I made my way through security without any trouble and headed to the luggage carousels. I waited for my luggage to fall through the chute. Waited. And waited. And waited even more. My friends found their luggage. The rest of the passengers found their luggage. Only a few luggage were left on the carousel, going round and round. But none of them were mine. I checked, and checked again. Walking around the carousel and even asking one of the staff. I finally had to admit that my luggage wasn’t there and no amount of pacing around the carousel would make it magically appear.

I was really worried that I didn’t have my luggage. Everything I needed was in there, especially clean clothes! So I made my way to the lost baggage claim counter and found out that my luggage was left behind in London *sad face* and they had to wait till the next day before my luggage would get to Venice because there was only one flight out to Venice each day. I was just really worried that the luggage wouldn’t get to me in time as I was going to leave Venice on a cruise the next day. The lady at the counter got my cruise ship information and assured me that they would deliver my luggage to the cruise ship once it arrives. And then she had to destroy that reassurance by asking me my next port-of-call after leaving Venice. Just in case they don’t make it in time for our departure. LOL. I really wasn’t looking forward to wearing the same clothes for like three days in a row…

After all that trouble, we made our way outside of the airport to wait for hotel pickup. We had booked our stay at Antony Palace Hotel which provided airport shuttle. It was raining really heavily when we got to Venice. We were hoping that the rain would let up but alas, the rain continued well into the night. The day was pretty dreary and so couldn’t really see much on the car ride to the hotel.

The first photo I took in Venice, Italy. Rainy day.

We checked in to the hotel without much hassle. Took the elevator up to our room. The elevator was really dim and I don’t know if the lights on the buttons and the digital screen showing the floors weren’t working or something, but they didn’t change or anything and sometimes you wonder if the elevator is actually moving but then you arrive at your destination and be all like “phew”.

Our room was gorgeous! The decor was modern and chic. The bathroom was pretty grand. The only drawback was we could only find one plug in the whole room to charge our electronics. Maybe it’s just us. Haha.
