After packing our bags and double-checking to make sure we didn’t miss or forget anything in the room, we headed down to check-out of the hotel. We asked the receptionist how to get to the pier and a hotel shuttle was arranged for us to bring us to Piazzale Roma, where the driver instructed us to take the People Mover to get to the pier.
What a difference some sunshine makes! Piazzale Roma looked so much nicer without the rain interfering with the view. Wish the weather had been better the day before. I really wanted to go on that gondola ride. *sad face*
The People Mover turned out to be a little tram / train system (about three or four carriages long) that had only three stops (including the one we got on at).
I didn’t remember to get a picture of the People Mover itself but I did get a few pictures of the inside. Haha.
We got in at the front carriage and luckily, we had the whole carriage to ourselves (or maybe we scared off the other passengers? LOL).
We got off at the Marittima Cruise Terminal and down the escalator where a person (part of the crew or maybe a staff at the pier) carrying a sign with the name of the cruise ship directed us towards the baggage check-in tent. I didn’t have any luggage to check in since it was left behind in London (see previous posts for details), and when I asked about my luggage, the person who helped us with the luggage check-in assured me that it should be delivered to the room we would be staying on board the ship.
After checking-in our luggage, we headed towards the embarkation terminal. To be continued in the next post.
